Some of the most popular sightseeing options are the beautiful Dal Lake, the Mughal Gardens, the Valley of Kashmir and the beautiful Temple of Shankaracharya. Pahalgam is essentially a mountain-area, known for its trekking options, angling and skiing. It also offers opportunities of white-water rafting. Surrounded by dense forests, Gulmarg is famous for its golf hikes and has a beautiful golf course. It also offers interesting and panoramic trekking options.
Itinerary (Srinagar - Pahalgam - Gulmarg)
Day 1: Arrival Srinagar
Arrive by flight to Srinagar & transfer to hotel. Take a Shikara (gondola boat) ride across the pristine Dal Lake and enjoy the water-life of Srinagar. Visit the local crafts market and shop for unique Papier-mâché and Walnut Wood items. Stay overnight at deluxe Houseboat.
Day 2: Srinagar
Enjoy city tour of Srinagar, which includes: Mogul Garden "Nishat" (The Garden of Pleasure) and "Shalimar" (Abode of All). Also enjoy a drive along the lake side on the Boulevard can be rewarding. On your way back, shop at the local Handicrafts Emporium, where you can pick up some silk carpets, shawls and ornaments. Also visit Shankaracharya Temple in the later half of the day. Stay overnight at Houseboat.
Day 3: Srinagar - Sonamarg (100 kms)
After breakfast, check into hotel in Srinagar, followed by departure for picnic lunch at Sonamarg. Also called 'Meadow of Gold', Sonamarg is located at 9000 ft. against snow-clad mountains, with the Sindh River rich in trout and mahseer flowing. Available on hire are ponies that can take you upto the Thajiwas Glacier, a major attraction especially during the summers. Return to Srinagar for overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4: Srinagar – Pahalgam (96 Kms/3 hrs – One Way; 7200 Feet)
Depart Srinagar for Pahalgam or the "Valley of Shepherds" and check into hotel. Pahalgam is known for the lovely trekking routes that it provides. A walk on the banks of River Lidder can be rewarding too. Pahalgam is also known as a base camp for those embarking on the Amarnath Pilgrimage. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Pahalgam
Spend day at leisure, exploring the surrounding areas of Pahalgam. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Pahalgam – Gulmarg
After breakfast, transfer to Gulmarg for picnic lunch. Also called 'Meadow of Flowers', Gulmarg is located 53 kms from Srinagar at an altitude of 8700-ft. The place is known for its Ski Resort and the world’s highest 18-hole Golf Course. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Gulmarg
Spend day at leisure with an optional Cable Car Ride to enjoy the scenic view of Kongdori. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Gulmarg – Srinagar
Return from Gulmarg to Srinagar and check into Deluxe Houseboat on arrival. Spend rest of the day at leisure enjoying the scenic beauty of Kashmir. Dinner and overnight stay at houseboat.
